نواب نے ابتدائی طور پر نسوانی قلمی نام سے رومانوی کہانیاں لکھنا شروع کیں۔ 23 سال کی عمر میں ان کی پہلی کہانی ’’اک دیوار اک شگاف‘‘ اصلی نام کے ساتھ ایک فلمی میگزین ’’رومان‘‘ میں 1970 کے لگ بھگ شائع ہوئی۔ ایک مصنف کے طور پر طویل جدوجہد کے دور سے گزرنے کے بعد، آخرکار انہوں نے سسپنس ڈائجسٹ کے ایڈیٹر معراج رسول کی توجہ حاصل کی۔ پھر وہ اگلے 40 سالوں تک سسپنس اور جاسوسی ڈائجسٹ کے باقاعدہ مصنف بن گئے۔
